Alagarswami, was a businessman, and his mother, Aandal, passed away when he was very young. Vijayakanth had three elder siblings and seven younger step-siblings from his father’s second marriage.

He attended several schools during his early education, including M.C. High School, Devakottai School, and St. Mary’s School. However, he couldn’t continue his education past the eleventh standard as he had to manage his father’s rice-milling business.

Despite these challenges, Vijayakanth nurtured a passion for acting from a young age and aspired to become an actor like M.G. Ramachandran (MGR). This passion eventually led him to a successful career in the Tamil film industry and later into politics.
